Walking or running for weight loss - which is better?

running.jpgIt’s probably counter-intuitive here - walking beats the heck out of running for weight loss!

Besides the scientific explanation that I shall explain in a moment, as someone who went about losing weight on two separate occasions in the last few years, I can vouch for walking…

*** FIRST OCCASION ***

Seven years ago, I woke up one day to realize that I put on around 20 kg after working mindlessly in running my business for a decade. Imagine the shock when the scale told me that I was 89 kg!

It took a few more scales to convince me that they were right and I was wrong.

That made me decide to run the marathon again. Immediately I put a running plan together and started on my journey. Half a year later, I wish I could say I did it with a straight face - yeah almost that is - but I had to call it quits after 25 km. Not too bad you would say, won’t you?

All in all, I lost about 5 kg after running for miles preparing for the marathon.

Water and weight loss

More often than not, we focus so much on the diet or the quantity of food intake, making sure that we don’t eat the wrong food or over-eat at each meal. However, we might overlook drinking plenty of water.

We recommend that you drink 8 glasses of water per day, but that may take you some time to work up to. Your body needs a whole lot of water. Water doesn’t just flush all the toxins out of your body, but it makes you feel better and healthier. Read more »
